Breakfast cereals

In line with the new Government standards young people can now enjoy Kellogg’s cereals within schools, except sugar coated and chocolate variants. Kellogg’s Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies, Crunchy Nut, Fruit ‘n Fibre, Special K or Luxury Muesli are ideal as a filling breakfast option and part of a balanced diet. These varieties are available in Bag and Bulk-Pak options, providing a great solution for high volume catering.

For those school outlets without a manned canteen, Kellogg’s has also created a ‘Breakfast Box’, containing an individual serving of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes and milk, plus a carton of orange juice, in a ready to eat pack.

Spice up a lunchtime menu using Kellogg’s products

Kellogg’s has just launched an exciting new recipe book - which has been specially developed for use by caterers in both primary and secondary schools.

The Kellogg’s wholesome recipe book provides a comprehensive nutritional breakdown for every meal, in line with the School Food Trust (SFT) guidelines, as well as healthy serving suggestions and practical tips.

The recipe book is divided into three sub-sections: main meals, desserts and specials. The exclusive recipes include chilli con carne made with All-Bran, corn-crisped salmon croquettes containing Kellogg’s Cornflakes, and tangy ‘Rice Krispies’ meatballs. Appetising vegetarian options are also included, such as cauliflower bake with an All-Bran topping or potato and onion casserole with a crispy Special K coating.

For dessert, try a healthy All-Bran fruit loaf, coconut macaroons made with Rice Krispies or a golden carrot cake made using All-Bran Sultana Bran.

Healthier snacking options

The cakes and biscuits category has now also been passed by the SFT for schools and Nutri-Grain can be served as part of a nutritionally balanced lunch.

Schools can now be safe in the knowledge that Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Soft Bake Bars, Nutri-Grain Elevenses Raisin Soft Bakes and Nutri-Grain Oat Baked Bars can all be served in this category in line with the new standards – during the lunchtime period.

Nutra Grain Blackberry and Apple

The Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain range is available in a variety of flavours, from Apple to Blueberry, Cherry to Totally Oaty. They provide a source of calcium and iron and contain at least six essential vitamins. All of the soft bake cake bars are rich in carbohydrates, providing a source of slow release energy throughout the day.
